I am not sure, but they should have the IP address at least of the person who changed it.
Not much use if they were at an internet cafe, but if they were at work or if they have a fixed IP at home I guess you could somehow find out who it was.
Yahoo and Facebook should do something about this, as this once happened to me on ebay. My ex boyfriend hacked into my account and changed my username to iamaB**ch and my password. Ebay had to change everything back, it was a pain in the neck.
